Safety First for Boaters in Brevard

Boating is one of the most popular leisure activities in Florida. But after the sheer enjoyment of being out on the water, what is the most important thing to keep in mind? Safety!

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary have as a cornerstone mission, education of the public on recreational boating safety. And the Flotilla 17-6 of central Brevard County offers its About Boating Safely (ABS) course taught by experienced instructors every month.

All graduates of the program receive the Florida Boating Safety Education I.D. Card which is required for all boaters born after January 1, 1988.

Beyond the introductory course, the Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a series of courses for sailors, power boaters, and young boaters that focus on everything from navigation to radio operation to inland boating and more.

Not all courses are required for operation of a boat, but better education makes for better boaters.

Blue Sky Insurance Agency provides policies for boats and boaters, RVs, and motorcycles. Make sure you have the right coverage for your recreational needs.
